about KX Radio

KX Radio is an internet radio station from The Netherlands. DJ and founder Rob Stenders, who had worked for several national radio stations, concluded that the majority of Dutch radio stations became of a sameness. To offer an alternative, he started KX Radio. Broadcasting started on April 1, 2005 from Stenders’ own residence.

Goal of the station is to provide DJs more power and choice in the music they play, hence the subtitle “For The Love Of Music”. Many famous Dutch DJs and artists have their own show on KX Radio, like Lana Wolf, Manuela Kemp, Stefan Stasse, Carice van Houten, Kluun, Jeroen van InkelLeo Blokhuis, Tim Knol, Roosmarijn Reijmer and Martijn Richters.

KX Radio offers three other streams: KX ClassiKX, with focus on underground songs from the 1960s and 1970s, KX Red Hot with mainly new music and KX World, with non stop music. The KX radio studio is based in the Eyeworks building in Amsterdam.

KX Radio has in fact no format. DJs are free to choose what music they play. Apart from the weekly promo song (Freakandel Speciaal), there is an album of the week (Picturedisc), and KX’ own hitlist, the Verleidelijke 14 (Tempting 14). This list is made up via a voting system, where the KX listeners can vote for their favourite song.
