Before heading to Adelaide city we visit the wine region of the Adelaide Hills and Mt Lofty, with 727 metres the highest mountain in the region, and only 15 kms from Adelaide. From the top you have magnificent panoramic views of Adelaide and the ocean. The Adelaide Hills are in fact on the other side of the mountain and have really lovely wineries. Barratt Wines is a little boutique winery in Summertown with beautiful wines. After a freezing early visit at Mt Lofty (12 C !) we went to the winery, and sat in a lovely garden, with a cheese and pate platter, tasting seven wines in the sun. Their rose and pinot noir is of absolute word class quality, and we decided we could still park two boxes of wine in the back of the car. The most amazing aspect of the Adelaide Hills wineries is, that from there, it’s only a 20 minute downhill drive to downtown Adelaide. A luxury if you live in Adelaide !

Adelaide Hills
After this short visit to the Adelaide Hills wine region, we drove to Adelaide. Compared to Sydney and Melbourne a much smaller city, but still a population of 1.2 million. For us a shock to be again in a city full of busy people, after spending almost two weeks in the empty outback. In downtown Adelaide we visited the Adelaide Central Market, a huge indoor area with market stalls selling everything from fresh fruit to cheese, artisan breads, seafood and meat.

als ik jou zie wijn drinken is het of ik je vader wijn zie drinken exact dezelfde bewegingen en gezichtsuitdrukking heel bijzonder normaal zie ik het niet maar dit was heel frappant.
Ja kan me voorstellen dat je even moest wennen aan al die drukte op de overdekte markt maar wel erg leuk om te zien.
